Roberta W. Hildebrand, 74, of Grants Pass died Saturday, February 16, 2008, at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday at River Valley community Church Student Center, 150 NE "E" Street. Other services will be held in Graysville, Manitoba, Canada, with interment at Graysville Mennonite Church Cemetery. Chapel of the Valley – L.B. Hall is in charge of local arrangements.

She was born Roberta Wayne Beathe, February 16, 1934 in Seattle, Wash. to Guy W. and Cleo F. Beathe. She grew up on Vashon Island, Washington but graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1952. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Cascade Bible College in Portland and studied nursing in Portland. She then studied French in Belgium for a year in order to do missionary work in Burundi.
On August 23, 1968, in Seattle, she married Menno Gordon Hildebrand, who died in March 1993. She worked as a medical missionary at Norway House in Manitoba and in Belize. She returned to Grants Pass from Edmonton, Alberta in 2005.
Roberta worked for fifteen years as a volunteer with the Mennonite Central Committee in Carman, Manitoba, Canada. She was a member of the River Valley Community Church and the Association of the blind. She dedicated herself to serving the Lord and helping others.
Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Jeanine Hildebrand of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Karlene Laughy of Campbell River, B.C.; two brothers, Homer J. Beathe of Everett, Wash. and Guy W. Beathe of Grants Pass; two sisters, Flora Sellards of Grants Pass and Jessie Harmon of Visalia, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Her husband, Menno, died in March 1993. A sister, Molly Beath, also preceded her in death.
