Darcy Bruce Neil Galbraith
It is with profound and heartfelt sadness that our family regrets to announce the tragic and sudden loss of Darcy Bruce Neil Galbraith.
Those left behind to love and to miss Darcy forever are his parents, Cameron and Shirley Galbraith; his sister, Nicole and husband Dave Oughton and children Robert and Kylee; his sister Joanne and fiancée, Ken Pritchard and daughter Skylar; Grandmothers, Ellen Galbraith and Pat Findlay. He will also be deeply missed by his aunts and uncles; Linda Sylvester and cousins, Laurie, Kerby and partner Patrick Boyd; Sharon Findlay; Susan and Blaine Phillips; cousins Tara and husband Jason and children Jessie and Henry; Leahette and partner Jason Enright; David and wife Leah; as well as many other extended family members and a 'family' of friends.
Darcy was predeceased by his grandpas, Don Galbraith and Raymond Findlay.
Darcy was born on September 7, 1983 and was raised on the family farm southwest of Carman, where he would become the fifth generation to carry on the family farming tradition. Growing up on the farm opened the door to many opportunities for learning and living. He loved his pets and wrestling matches with 'Casey' after school.
Darcy loved sports and became the sports trivia expert. He was either watching or playing a wide range of sports. He loved the Calgary Flames before it was cool to be a Flames fan and no other team could compare. He played minor hockey for several years. Baseball was another favourite sport of Darcy's.
Darcy graduated from Carman Collegiate in 2001 and soon after completing his education, travelled out west with his partner-in-crime, Dave, to work in the oilfield. This was the beginning of many treks out west every winter for several years, returning home in spring to farm with his dad and his mom. In the last few years farming became his primary occupation.
Darcy was interested in travelling and spent time in Fiji, New Zealand and Australia. He toured to Las Vegas and had a memorable trip along the coast to California. He recently returned from visiting his buddies in Alberta.
Family ties have always been important to Darcy all though his life and words cannot begin to describe the bond between Darcy and those who knew him best.
He was his Dad and Mom's 'silent partner' and his sisters' best friend. He was a magnet for children and being 'Uncle Darcy' was a title he proudly wore. No one was more important to him than his nieces and nephew.
Darcy was a man of few words but he could quickly sum things up with his sharp sense of humour and quick wit. He would always put things into perspective. Darcy had a knack for making people laugh with his unique and genuine nature.
A private family service will be held from Doyle's Funeral Chapel in Carman. A public reception will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Legion Ladies Auxiliary Hall. Memorial donations may be made to Carman Area Foundation, c/o Sperling Fund for Kids, Box 160, Carman, MB, R0G 0J0
Darcy often ventured away without saying goodbye so until we meet again. Just know how much we love you. Always remembered and forever loved.
When family ties are broken
And loved ones have to part
It leaves a wound that never heals
And also a broken heart
We hold you close within our hearts
And there you will remain
To walk with us throughout our lives
Until we meet again
